Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is one of the oldest and largest public universities in Iran, established in 1328.

Introduction
Ferdowsi University of Mashhad ranks first among Iranian universities in attracting international students, hosting over 2,000 students from about 30 countries worldwide. The university’s origins date back to 1949 when the Higher Institute of Health was converted into a Faculty of Medicine, marking the first step towards establishing the third university in Iran, located in Mashhad. In 1334, the Faculty of Literature with five departments was established at Mashhad University. In 1353, the university was renamed Ferdowsi University and expanded by adding faculties such as Theology, Sciences, Dentistry, Evening Programs, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Nutrition, Educational Sciences and Psychology, Engineering, Optometry, and others. After 1979, some units were separated to form the Medical Sciences University. Subsequently, several new faculties and centers joined Ferdowsi University, including:

Tuition Fees

Tuition Fees for International Students – Non-Scholarship

Note 1: A 70% discount on both fixed and variable tuition fees is granted to non-Persian-speaking students enrolled in Persian Language and Literature programs.

Note 2: A 70% discount on fixed and variable tuition fees is granted to students who are citizens of Afghanistan.

Note 3: Top-performing undergraduate students (ranked first to third in their program) are eligible for a tuition discount ranging from 20% to 40% on both fixed and variable fees.

Note 4: Non-Iranian students residing in Iran may benefit from the “Exceptional Talent Admission Regulation” (Document No. 307862/2, dated 07 January 2023) and study full-time in master’s and PhD programs.

Note 5: A 20% discount on the fixed tuition fee is granted to students who have an immediate family member (including sibling, spouse, parent, or child) studying at the university simultaneously.

Note 6: A 30% discount on the fixed tuition fee is granted to PhD students who have completed both their undergraduate and master’s degrees at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

Note 7: A 10% discount on the fixed tuition fee is granted to students who have completed one previous degree at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

Note 8: In the event of withdrawal, the student is required to pay the fixed tuition fee for two semesters to the university.
