Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman is a public university located in the city of Kerman, Kerman Province. It was established in 1974. Currently, the university hosts approximately 19,000 students and employs around 1,160 faculty members. According to analyses, the university has published 23,881 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences to date. Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman is the publisher of 23 specialized academic journals and has organized 60 conferences so far. Additionally, the university has produced 7,835 internationally recognized articles. Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman is one of the largest and most reputable universities in southeastern Iran. It consists of twelve faculties, three higher education complexes, one research institute, and sixty-four academic departments. Students are enrolled in more than 369 fields and specializations. Leveraging its distinguished faculty members, the university offers graduate (Master’s and PhD) programs in over 297 disciplines across the fields of biological sciences, mathematics and computer science, physical sciences, and engineering.
Ranking
According to the latest report published by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) at the end of April 2025 (Farvardin 1404), Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman has achieved the 16th position among all universities in Iran and ranks 12th among comprehensive universities nationwide. This achievement is especially notable as the university also secured the 10th place in the “Scientific Diplomacy” indicator among comprehensive universities in the country. Furthermore, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/shahid-bahonar-university-kerman), Shahid Bahonar University ranks between 601 and 800 in Computer Science globally.

Welfare Facilities
Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman offers well-equipped student dormitories with a capacity of 3,000 residents. These dormitories include prayer rooms, TV lounges, a bakery, a telecommunications center, snack bars, and a publishing office. Additionally, there are four dining halls located in the Afzali-Pour campus and the Faculty of Engineering, serving meals daily to more than 8,000 students. Within the university campus, several snack bars, supermarkets, printing services, internet cafes, stationery stores, and bookstores are also available. The university library is divided into two separate halls for female and male students, providing a comfortable environment for research and study.
