Studying at Gorgan University of Natural Resources

Introduction
Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources is the oldest specialized agricultural university in Iran and the first institution of higher education in northern Iran. It began its activities in 1957 with 28 students under the name “Higher School of Forestry and Range Management of Gorgan.” As a scientific, cultural, and historical heritage of Golestan Province, the university maintains a strong and ever-deepening connection with its community. Today, in line with the transformation from a teaching-based university to a third-generation university, its primary focus has shifted toward solving societal challenges. Major initiatives include the establishment of a specialized mother clinic, the development of knowledge-based companies, a technology incubator, a student business park, a skills training and employment office, expansion of research infrastructure, a nature education center, support for entrepreneurship, national and regional mega-projects, and the creation of several educational, research, and innovation complexes in fields such as food industries, furniture and wood-based composites.

Currently, the university hosts over 3,000 students across 112 academic programs, including 18 undergraduate, 58 master’s, and 36 doctoral programs, offered in 9 faculties and 27 academic departments. Its two campuses (Central and New Campus), 95 specialized laboratories and workshops, 12 academic journals, 100 hectares of educational and research rangeland, 35 hectares of experimental farmland, and 3,000 hectares of forest provide a comprehensive environment for theoretical, practical, and technological education.
