Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University, as the second comprehensive university in East Azerbaijan Province, serves as a prestigious academic hub for nurturing talented students and emerging scholars across various disciplines. The university was founded in 1989 under the name Tabriz Teacher Training University and served for 13 years as the primary center for training young teachers in northwestern Iran. In 2001, following a reform in the country’s higher education system, the institution adopted a new mission and was re-established as a public comprehensive university under the name Azarbaijan Teacher Training University. In 2012, with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, the university was renamed Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University to honor the memory of Martyr Ayatollah Madani. Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University is the only university in Iran equipped with a dedicated electric train service. This exclusive campus train operates four times a day, transporting students and staff between Tabriz and the main campus. Thousands of students enjoy a 35-minute commute marked by safety and comfort, allowing them to study in a calm and secure environment. Currently, the university hosts 7,500 Iranian and international students across seven faculties. It offers academic programs in 120 fields at the undergraduate, master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral levels.
