Studying at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz
Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz is the fourth-largest university in Iran and one of the most prominent academic institutions in the southern part of the country. Established in 1953, the university currently comprises 17 officially approved faculties and one industrial campus, encompassing 69 academic departments. These include 25 departments in the humanities, 10 in basic sciences, 12 in engineering and technical fields, 15 in agricultural and veterinary sciences, and 7 in the arts. Altogether, the university offers 2 associate bachelor’s programs, 53 undergraduate programs, 221 master’s degree programs, 131 PhD programs, and 1 professional doctoral program. Among these, 48 master’s programs and 34 doctoral programs are offered through the university’s campus-based programs, while 4 master’s programs are delivered online (virtually). Of the university’s 602 faculty members, a significant percentage hold the rank of assistant professor or higher. More than 5,000 postgraduate students are currently pursuing their studies at Shahid Chamran University.

In the latest academic and research evaluation conducted by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) for the year 2020–2021, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz ranked 15th among comprehensive universities in Iran. According to the most recent Times Higher Education World University Rankings (2025), Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz is placed in the 601–800 bracket globally in the field of engineering.

Tuition fee for the academic year 2024/2025 will increase by approximately 20%.
The tuition fee for the Persian language course for elementary, intermediate, and advanced courses (about 600 hours) of education is 83,490,000 Rials.
The fee for housing in the university dormitory complex for each academic semester is 20,000,000 Rials.
