Ahlul Bayt International University was established in 2004 as a limited university center with the mission to promote science and address the scientific, research, and professional needs of its students and researchers, as well as to contribute to the understanding of world culture and civilization. It was elevated to the status of a comprehensive university in 2011 and commenced its activities accordingly. The university is located in a pleasant environment in Tehran, the capital of Iran, With faculty members specializing in various academic disciplines, it has hosted students from many different nationalities and accepts applicants from around the world. The university is a member of the International Association of Universities affiliated with UNESCO. In addition to its educational mission, it annually hosts professors and researchers in Oriental Studies from around the world, providing opportunities for academic study and collaboration.

Dormitory
- The university has two sets of dormitories with the capacity of 600 people in northern and southern Tehran. Both are close to the university and there is no need for transportation.
- Dormitory equipment on each floor: kitchen, showers and bathrooms (shared by the students of that floor), and water purifiers.
- Room equipment: beds, carpet, shoe holders, air conditioning and heating.
- students can borrow vacuum cleaners from the superintendent of the dormitory.
- Equipment outside the dormitory: sporting equipment, match field, shops specific to students, security stations.
- dormitory does not have married student housing and 3 or5 students live in each room.
Insurance
All students are covered by insurance. 60 percent of the cost is paid by the insurer and 40 percent by the student. Students may make use of their insurance by accessing hospitals in contract with their insurer.
Tuition
The tuition for studying at the university is received in Dollar. According to the board of trustees of the university, the tuition for international students is as follows:

- The dormitory of the university does not provide married student housing.
- Obtaining and paying for all breakfast meals, as well as lunch and dinner on Thursdays and Fridays is on the students.
- All international applicants (regardless of the method of enrollment) must pay 100 USD at the time of registration as cost of evaluation. This amount is non-refundable and in case it is not deposited, the student Visa of these applicants will not be issued.
Scholarship
According to the bylaws of the admission and enrollment council of the university, Ahlul Bayt International University allocates a specific number of scholarships to students. The request for scholarship by students will be assessed in the admission and enrollment council, and in case it is accepted by the university, it will be relayed to the student.
Note: The flight tickets, cost of textbooks and application fee for the visa is on the student. ABU doesn’t pay any allowance.

- Entering the university premises with a vehicle requires prior permissions from the security of the university.
